Instant Chat Bar

BoltAI has a deep integration with macOS. The Instant Chat feature allows you to start a chat anywhere. Trigger a keyboard shortcut, type your prompt and hit send.

  1. Press Opt + Space

  2. (Optional) Enable Web Search tool

  3. Type your prompt and hit Enter.

Tips:

  • Press Command + Shift + M to change models. Use arrow keys to switch between providers & models.

  • To set default tools, go to Settings > Chat Context. Find the Models & Plugins section, click Manage Plugins.

  • To configure advanced settings, go to Settings > Instant Chat Bar.

Instant Dictation

Fast AI-powered dictation for your Mac. Works on any text field. Supports cloud and local models.

  1. Go to Settings > Voice.

  2. In the “Speech to Text” section, select your favorite engine. For best performance, I’d recommend using the Local engine (Parakeet TDT model).

  3. In the “Instant Dictation” section, set the keyboard shortcut.

  4. Set the output mode to “Paste to Active App”.

  5. Click “Enable Accessibility…” & grant the permission.

  6. Now trigger the keyboard shortcut, speak and trigger the same shortcut again.

Quickly take a screenshot (default ⌘+shift+1) and ask AI about it.

  1. Go to Settings > ShotSolve.

  2. (Optional) Set the keyboard shortcut.

  3. Click “Open Screen Recording Settings…”, find BoltAI 2 in the app list and enable it. You might need to restart the app.

  4. Now you can trigger the keyboard shortcut, take a screenshot and enter your prompt.

Note: If you don’t find “BoltAI 2” in the “Screen & System Audio Recording” list, drag and drop the app to the list.
